Front page: Modern Day Lynchings in Mississippi Map by BLK FLWR MRKT
Back page: A personalized letter to either the Honorable Senators Roger Wicker OR the Honorable Cindy Hyde-Smith
The personalized letter reads:
“Dear Honorable [Senator Name], When you voted to pass the Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Bill into law in 2022, you helped to make the country a safe space for all of its citizens - thank you so much for your service. I am deeply concerned at the pattern of your state’s courts rulings on 80% of the lynching cases identified on the front of this postcard. Their families, and myself, do not believe that they killed themselves in any instance, and do believe that each of them are victims of hate crimes. Only one victim illustrated on the front of this postcard was granted a federal investigation; his name was Craig Anderson. Craig’s family and communities are now at rest knowing that the criminals that lynched him are no longer free on the streets of Mississippi and cannot harm others. I ask that you grant the following families that same peace by requesting motions for their cases to be re-opened and re-considered as federal investigations:
Raynard Johnson. Lynched at the age of 17 on 6/16/2000
Nick Naylor. Lynched at the age of 23 on 1/9/2003
Roy Veal. Lynched at the age of 55 on 4/22/2009
Frederick Jermaine Carter. Lynched at the age of 26 on 12/3/2010
Otis Byrd. Lynched at the age of 54 on 3/19/2025
Phillip Carroll. Lynched at the age of 22 on 5/28/2017
Deondray Montreal Hopkins. Lynched at the age of 35 on 5/5/2019
Willie Andrew Jones Jr. Lynched in Scott County, Mississippi in 2018.
Demartravion “Trey” Reed. Lynched at the age of 21 on 9/15/2025.
Signed,
[Your name handwritten]
